Corona Virus – Covid-19 Infection control policy for website sales from Salty Dog Emporium
Here at Salty Dog Emporium we take the potential consequences of poor hygiene and infection control seriously at any time, but especially now during these challenging times with the Corona Virus – Covid-19.
Our physical shop is open along with our on-line shops.
We would like to reassure our valued customers that we are taking every precaution to minimise the risk of any potential infection.
We have been busy ensuring that all shelves, fixtures and fittings etc have been thoroughly washed, cleaned and have had anti-bacterial spray applied.
We use appropriate, non-medical standard, Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) within the shop.
Before any orders are handled hands are sanitised and the surfaces that they are placed on for packaging are sprayed with anti-bacterial spray and dried with paper kitchen towel.
For local deliveries;
To ensure safe local delivery (within 5 miles of East Wittering Village) each order is wrapped in tissue paper and then placed in a paper bag, ready to be delivered.
Contact will be made with the recipient ahead of delivery, via text, phone or email to confirm address and to arrange a suitable drop off point and time.
It is imperative at this point that we know if the recipient is in social isolation or is unwell, this is to ensure the safety of both parties. We will of course still deliver but will want to ensure that all precautions are understood and are strictly adhered to.
Arriving at the address, hand sanitiser will be applied and the recipient will be notified with a phone call or text to say that the delivery is about to be made. Social distancing, of a minimum of 2 metres apart, will be adhered to at all times, whilst their parcel is being left at the agreed point.
Confirmation of receiving the delivery is required and can be done through either an acknowledgement of a thumbs up or a wave from the doorstep or a window (still maintaining social distancing). Alternatively a call can be made or a text can be sent to the delivery driver before they drive away.
Once returning to the car hands will be sanitised again before leaving.
At no point will the delivery driver enter the premises. Should a recipient require help appropriate authorities will be alerted.
Salty Dog Emporium advises that both before and after handling deliveries, recipients should follow the government guidelines and wash their hands for a minimum of 20 seconds with soap and water.For extra precautions and where possible wipe the parcel with antibacterial spray or wipes. Furthermore leave the delivery in a safe dry place for a period of 72 hours before unpacking.
For deliveries that are to be posted out;
Each item is wrapped in tissue before being packaged into a suitable parcel for postal delivery.
Once the parcel has been sealed it will be taken to the Post Office for dispatch. Social distancing will be observed at all times, whilst waiting to hand parcels over the counter.
